LADIES

  • Redditch Borough Women deservedly took all the points from Sunday’s game. Redditch showed their class and the reason why they’re unbeaten at the top of the league. Sporting defended well, but ultimately three mistakes were capitalised on by Borough players. Bromsgrove are closing in on the end of the season, with just two matches left to play, and will look to finish the season on a high!
  • Next up, they face Halesowen Town Ladies, on Sunday 27th April, at the UK Electrical Stadium (2:00 KO).

LADIES DEVELOPMENT

  • The Devs had no game at the weekend.
  • This weekend, they travel to Nunnery Wood Women (2:00 KO).

GIRLS

  • The Girls are recruiting players for next year’s U9 team – contact Alan Williams on 07786 983 951 for more info.
  • Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. No league game until 3rd May.
  • Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. They lost 1-3 at home to Kingfisher last weekend. They knew it would be a tough game, as top of the table Kingfisher are a good side, but Sporting started well and were on top in the early stages. This led to a good bit of pressure and a great strike from Immy, which hit the post. After that, Kingfisher started to get in the game and had a very good long range strike of their own saved well by Lydia. Kingfisher were very dangerous down the right and a looping shot that came down in line with the sun caused Layla some problems and, unluckily, the shot managed to squirm in after she had initially saved it. Sporting responded well and a great through ball from Immy not long after got Emilia through – she lofted the ball over the keeper and ran onto it to slot home with her left foot. That was slightly against the run of play though in truth and Kingfisher finished the half the stronger. Not long before the interval, a good move saw a Kingfisher player find space in the box and she put her chance away well to give them the lead at the break. The second half was much the same; Sporting battled well but Kingfisher continued to push and were rewarded, when a ball across the box found a player in space and she made no mistake to put them 3-1 ahead. Sporting did manage to push in an attempt to get back into it and had some good pressure towards the end, but the game ended in defeat. They have no league game this weekend, but a home friendly has been arranged.
  • Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. They travelled to Leamington last Saturday and suffered their second consecutive 1-0 loss, in a lacklustre game of few chances. The girls started well enough and were moving the ball well, but could not break down a resolute Leamington defence. Likewise, the Sporting defence restricted Leamington to just one shot in the first half. The second half was much the same as the first, with the defences on top. Despite the introduction of Sporting’s subs, they were unable to score and Leamington capitalised on the one mistake Bromsgrove’s defence made and the ball somehow found the back of the net. Despite all Sporting’s efforts, they could not get the equaliser. They play Leafield away this weekend.
