On annual Non League Day, Bromsgrove welcomed Long Eaton United to The Victoria Ground, with an extraordinary attendance of 1042 watching on.
United started brighter, William Coutts in particular, who teed up captain Andrew Todd after some nice skill, but the skipper could only fire over.
Striker Danico Johnson had the ball in the net on the half hour mark but he was ruled offside from Reece Hewitt’s through pass.
On the 35th minute Bromsgrove had the lead. An excellent cross-field pass from Jason Cowley found the feet of top scorer Robbie Bunn, who cut inside and fired a left footed shot low through the legs of United keeper’ Scott Low.
By the 57th minute Sporting doubled their tally. Guy Clark sending a bullet header into the bottom left corner from a Sam Wills cross.
Bromsgrove should have scored more goals. A heroic goal line clearance from James McKeever denied Johnson, then Cowley managed to head over from 6 yards with the rebound cross.
Johnson found himself unlucky again, his looping header crashing off the crossbar with the keeper firmly beaten.
It was a fourth clean sheet in a row for The Rouslers, who beat an uninspiring Long Eaton United side without getting into top gear.
