- Sunday saw the team facing Droitwich Spa Ladies Development team at home. Bromsgrove, despite only forming in the summer, put in yet again another improved performance, with well worked plays across the field and some composed finishes to score five. Alongside this, there were some brilliant saves and defending across the board to help secure the clean sheet. Thanks go to Droitwich, who despite the scoreline, showed grit throughout the game, and weren’t without their chances. However, Sporting persevered to ensure the three points were secured, 5-0 the score.
- The work continues this weekend, as Bromsgrove face third in the league Ross Juniors away from home.
VETERANS
- The Veterans bounced back after last weekend’s defeat with a 90% full strength squad away to Hollyfields. Sporting started the game with purpose, battling for first and second balls whilst playing some very attractive football in between. Hollyfields tried to fight back with some good football of their own, but couldn’t hold on for long and Ash Taylor opened the scoring after 20 minutes. A positive was that Sporting, from the kick off, continued to play some great football and, 10 minutes later, Shane Benjamin dispatched a lovely finish into the bottom corner. Sporting dominated further, as Taylor rifled another into the top corner on 40 minutes for Sporting to go in at half time 3-0 to the good. Changes were made at half time by Sporting; Josh McKenzie came on for Nav Arshad (who ran his socks off in the first half) and made a huge difference with his first touch three minutes in, scoring the fourth. The front two of Benjamin and McKenzie then terrorised the back four of Hollyfields, with Lee Woodward and Robbie Ager putting in MOTM performances in midfield. 55 minutes in and Benjamin scored his second with a great first touch and turn before a comfortable strike past the keeper to go 5-0 up. Sporting then substituted Benjamin for Jermaine Clarke and this proved a great move, as Hollyfields’ defenders had no answer to the two quick and powerful forwards running at them. This resulted in two further goals for McKenzie, sealing his hat-trick with 15 minutes to go. Hollyfields continued to battle and were awarded a penalty with five minutes to go after some excellent play around the Sporting box – however, the ever reliable Neil Leech quickly dived low to his right and made a superb save to keep a clean sheet. That took the wind completely out of Hollyfields and Sporting passed the ball beautifully for the last five minutes. Robbie Ager went on a darting run and cut the ball back beautifully to the edge of the 18 yard box for McKenzie to rifle home his fourth and Sporting’s eighth. 8-0 the final score.
- The game was played with a fantastic spirit and the Veterans now move on to this Sunday, where they are at home to Newtown in the Second Round of the Major Cup. KO is 10:30am, it’s free Entry and the bar is open.

GIRLS
- The Girls now want to expand its pathway by recruiting an U9 girls manager/coach – contact Alan Williams on 07786 983 951.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. They have a home game against Ashton 88 on Saturday.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. They had a tough game against a very strong Catshill side. First half, the girls gave Catshill a very competitive game, showing lots of determination. Second half seemed to be a bit of a challenge for them to keep up with the pace and skill of the opposition. Their next match is a Trophy match against Droitwich.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. They played Premier side Coton Green in the Open Cup and lost 9-1. Coton are a strong team, who passed the ball around and made numerous chances. Despite that, Bromsgrove made several chances and were unlucky not to score. However, a half time score line of 5–0 did not help. The second half saw a much improved performance and Sporting got a goal back. The girls can be proud of how they battled, against a very good Coton side.
