Worcester City 3 (Wise 12' & 36',
Bromsgrove Sporting 0
The first competitive meeting of Bromsgrove Sporting and Worcester City in over seven years saw Worcester cruise to a routine victory.
It was a case of former Rouslers coming back to haunt Bromsgrove, as centre back Charlie Wise twice headed home to give Worcester a two goal lead at the interval before striker Dan Sweeney converted from the penalty spot to make it a Tuesday evening to forget for Sporting.
The deadlock was broken 12 minutes in, as Wise headed home a corner at the back post into the top corner.
Sweeney had a strike saved by Sporting keeper Adam Harrison in the 27th minute - nine minutes later, the second was scored, as Wise once again capitalised on a Sporting defence that was unable to deal with a corner, willfully heading home to double his tally for the evening.
Sweeney had another chance to get on the scoresheet late in the half, but his shot from inside the box was deflected wide.
More opportunities came Worcester's way early in the second half, with Zac Guinan having a shot saved by Harrison's feet before Josh Bailey struck wide from distance.
The third was eventually scored in the 57th minute, as Sweeney sent Harrison the wrong way with a penalty kick, after Luke Softley brought Jordan Lymn down in the area.
Sweeney almost doubled his tally moments later, but his shot hit the crossbar. The 71st minute saw Guinan miss the target with a strike, whilst substitute Musa Ceesay had a fiercely struck effort saved by Harrison 12 minutes later.
For Sporting, this was a dismal evening, failing to record a single shot on target or opportunity of any significant note.
