COACHES’ CORNER: Tim Flowers Previews Needham Market

Ahead of Good Friday’s league match at Needham Market (3:00 KO), manager Tim Flowers has looked at the opposition, the positivity from Saturday’s win and the consortium news…

Another tough game in store tomorrow – one of many that we’ve got in the run-in. Before the Spalding game, you’re looking at four of the top seven in the run in.

Off the back of a good result and a good evening’s training on Wednesday, where the lads looked bright and enjoyed it, we go to a really tough place – a club that were in the National League North last year and have retained and improved on most of the squad they had last year. There are lads who are recognisable from this division from before they got promoted. They’ve got the likes of the two Morphews at the back, Luke Ingram, Kyle Hammond, Jake Dye, Myles Cowling, Ben Hunter – they’ve got a really good team and we’re aware of what we’re up against.

We’ll go and give it out best shot like we did last week. In terms of injuries, Billy Shaw came off injured last week with a tight hamstring so we’ll monitor him. Other than that, the subs who came on had a real impact on the game, so that is always in your thoughts as a manager.

It’s huge news with the consortium being ratified; it’s massive news for the football club and you have to be ultra positive. I’ve met with them the guys; they’re genuine and want what is best for the club, as we all do.

It can only enhance the club’s profile going forward, including what is on the pitch in the coming months – they’re keen to help me and the staff to put a strong team out on the pitch, which means that everybody is playing to stay at the club and be a part of it, which is only healthy.

It’s one of those where you want to get the best players in that you possibly can and everybody has a chance to stake their claim in the coming weeks. Then, over the course of the summer, I would imagine it’s going to be busy.

For managers, they work harder in the summer then they do during the season, because you’re never off your phone trying to secure players, so it’s going to be a busy one.

In the end, first thing’s first and that is we have to secure our Step Three status and we’ve got five games left to do just that. We’ll take each game as it comes and give it our best shot -I don’t think anybody can turn round and say to this group of players that they aren’t giving it everything that they’ve got – and long may that continue!
