AN UNINSPIRING Bromsgrove performance saw them drop to third in the Midland Football League writes Ben Fox.
Highgate United were the hosts and they started brightly putting Sporting under pressure.
Gate were rewarded in the 21st minute as Marco Addagio poked home a lofted ball from the left hand side.
This left Sporting stunned and Bradley Catlow was only troubled once, getting down low to prevent Jason Cowley.
Sean Brain should have levelled for the visitors on the 36th minute but he somehow blazed over from four yards from Liam Spink’s low cross.
The second half saw the introduction of Max Loveridge and Joe Ward for Sporting, who very nearly engineered an equaliser as Craig Jones’ header hit the bar.
Moments later, Bromsgrove were bitterly punished, ex captain Duane Courtney converted a free header, then aggravating the Sporting fans further by slapping the Highgate badge.
This triggered Sporting’s demise. Excessive poor passing and bad decisions gifted United’s third.
Bromsgrove failed to clear their lines and Addagio claimed his third, tapping home from close range.
A superb consolation goal from Cowley softened the blow, as he twisted and turned before looping the ball over Catlow from the edge of the box.
