Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (King 52')
Redditch United 2 (Ceesay 2', Cranston 75' P)
Local bragging rights went to Redditch United on Tuesday evening, as the Reds ran out 2-1 winners over Bromsgrove Sporting.
Musa Ceesay gave the visitors an early lead before Reece King levelled for Sporting seven minutes into the second half.
The winner came in the 75th minute, as Jordan Cranston scored from the penalty spot, securing all three points in the Worcestershire derby.
A calamitous opening for Bromsgrove started with Ceesay having a shot saved at the back post. Then, just seconds later, he had another chance, in a similar place, which he buried following a ball into the area.
A rather bland remainder of the half ensued thereafter; a talking point came in the 38th minute, as goalscorer Ceesay was controversially not shown a yellow card for kicking the ball away, having already received a caution for fouling Jamie Meddows 19 minutes earlier.
Meddows was involved in Sporting's best opportunity of the half, as his shot was blocked before King struck the ball over.
Bromsgrove were firmly in the ascendancy in the first 20 minutes of the second half.
The 49th minute saw Meddows weave past several defenders before unleashing a strike that was saved by Redditch keeper Adam Harrison.
The equaliser came three minutes later, as Charlie Wragg's blocked shot fell to King, who knocked it in with his left foot.
The pressure continued just moments later, as Wragg had another effort blocked before King missed the target, whilst Shay Palmer hammered a shot from distance that Harrison kept out well.
All of the Rouslers' second half dominance was undone 15 minutes from time, as Ethan Patterson's undercooked back pass to Charlie Price saw the Sporting stopper foul Jaiden White. Cranston stepped up to take the spotkick and comfortably dispatched it.
Wragg had a brilliant chance to bring Sporting level once again in the 86th minute, but he was unable to do anything with the ball at his feet inside the area.
