Bromsgrove Sporting looked to bounce back on Bank Holiday Monday against Highgate United as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Coventry Sphinx.
A dramatic late winner from Reece Hewitt gave the Rouslers the three points in order to keep up their positive start to the season.
Bromsgrove again started the game in a lacklustre fashion, playing poorly in the first half.
Highgate’s Mooney was alert to second ball in the 12th minute following a long throw and gave the visitors the lead much to the disappointment of the onwatching 652 home supporters.
Sporting failed to craft any chances of their own and came closest when Gate keeper’ Bradley Catlow plucked a dangerous Roberts cross out of the air.
Bromsgrove were much improved in the second half.
The introduction of ex WBA player Joe Ward payed dividends as he fired low past the onrushing Catlow after Wade Malley’s headed pass.
Robbie Bunn almost added another in the 78th minute as he dribbled past three defenders before a good save from Catlow denied him.
The Rouslers kept up their pressure and were rewarded in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Duane Courtney launched a long throw into the box which allowed Wills to take a snapshot at goal, fortunately for Bromsgrove Catlow spilled the shot at the feet of Reece Hewitt, who put the ball into the empty net sending erupting the Shed End.
Bromsgrove have 9 points from a possible 12 in the league which is a positive start to the league season.
