Bromsgrove Sporting 2 (Shorrock 12', Brown 43')
AFC Rushden & Diamonds 1 (Phillips-Smith 89')

Bromsgrove Sporting recorded their first home win of the season, with a 2-1 win versus AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Will Shorrock opened the scoring 12 minutes in, before Demetri Brown doubled the lead two minutes shy of the half time interval.

Sporting's Akos Onodi saved a Joel Gyasi penalty in the 71st minute, but the visitors did pull one back in the final moments, as Lorrell Phillips-Smith slotted home into the bottom corner.

The deadlock was broken as a troublesome Liam Spink ball into the box eventually fell to Shorrock, who smartly backheeled the ball into the bottom corner.

Tom Lorraine almost pulled Diamonds level 10 minutes later, but he could only find the crossbar with his header.

The 43rd minute saw Brown score his first goal for the Rouslers, hammering home Jourdain Masidi's lay-off into the net.

Shorrock and Nathan Hayward had chances to make it three in the early stages of the second half, but keeper Dean Snedker was equal to them all.

The penalty came after Jack Wilson committed a foul in the area; up stepped Gyasi, but Onodi dived to his left and palmed it away.

Phillips-Smith gave Rushden a glimmer of hope in the 89th minute, as he beat Onodi from a one on one situation, but Sporting would ultimately hold on to record their second consecutive win.
