Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s extended their outstanding winning streak, with a commanding 0-6 victory against Cadbury Athletic U21s.
The result secured a hat-trick of away wins for the development team and saw them overtake Bedworth United U21s to reclaim third in the league.
Bromsgrove battled through a tight Cadbury defence before Man of the Match Harvey Flemming pierced through and slotted in the first goal of the game.
Bo Morris marked his first outing as a centre-midfielder with a slick goal to complete an opportunistic Bromsgrove attack, before Ewan Carter halted a Cadbury goal kick to set up his own quick goal, catching the home side off guard.
A rapid passage of play saw the ball weaved past the Chocolate Men and into the path of Carter, who chipped it in for his second to take the visitors into half-time with a comfortable 0-4 lead.
A quick interception from Tyree Anglin set up a sprint to the goal and a smooth finish before Flemming brought the ball into the opposition’s half, allowing Zak Parr to see it home with a stunning strike that concluded a dominant away win.
“Starting games in the right manner is vital at any level and, from the first minute, I thought the lads executed the game plan with great efficiency,” said joint manager Stuart Carson.
“What was pleasing from our viewpoint was that things we have been working on in training over the past few weeks paid off, so all credit to the boys.”
Fellow joint manager Mark Reeve said: “Following on from the week before, the boys started and carried themselves into a comfortable lead. A deserving win in the end from the lads.”
Bo Morris, 17, and Archie Thurston, 19, featured in the first team squad for Tuesday night’s epic 8-2 County Cup victory, with Morris subbed on in the 80th minute for his Bromsgrove Sporting debut.
“Congratulations to Bo Morris for making his debut in the County Cup match. He is a consistent performer with the U21s,” said Reeve after the match.
“Archie Thurston was also in the squad but returning from injury. It shows the commitment from Sporting to bring lads forward when the time is right. Well done lads.”
Back in the U21s league, Sporting now turn their attention to their next challenge against Solihull Sporting U21s.
After the teams’ last clash was postponed due to poor weather at the UK Electrical Stadium, Bromsgrove will make the short trip to Solihull to play the home side, who are currently 8th in the table.
Speaking about Saturday’s match, Stuart commented: “Looking ahead, we have another tough away fixture this week, which we started preparing for on Wednesday.
Mark added that they have ‘some good training planned’ in preparation for ‘another competitive game ahead in the MFL’.
Bromsgrove Sporting U21s will face Solihull Sporting U21s at 10:30am, on Saturday, at the Grace Academy in Solihull.
*NOTE – this weekend’s fixture at Solihull has now been postponed*
