LADIES
- The Ladies got another point on the board, but again, were the side to create more chances, as they drew 2-2 with Long Itchington Ladies on Sunday. Sporting started very slowly and were off the pace, seeing themselves go in at half time 1-0 down, courtesy of an early goal against the run of play. Despite not being at their best, Sporting were still in the game and creating chances. The second half kicked off and the coaches got the reaction they asked for from the squad. Sporting were relentless in their press, with Long Itchington resorted to only playing long balls. Sporting thought they were level when a cross from Ruby Brett hit the back post, with many players saying to the referee that the ball had crossed the line before the goalkeeper gathered – but this was not given. Shortly after, Sporting would be level. Brett was given lots of time and space out wide, and put in another brilliant cross, which was headed in by Laura Shanley. As Sporting pushed for the winner, the opposition were fortunate on a number of occasions. Firstly, a long range effort by Emma Shaw was put wide by the legs of the keeper. Amy Kendall then came close with a shot at the near post, before Vicky Grady was unable to score from close range. There was then a long delay when a clash of heads happened between Charlotte Wallis and her opponent, resulting in Charlotte having to come off. This stopped Sporting’s momentum and gave Long Itchington a much-needed rest. Shortly after the restart, the Long Itchington striker curled a brilliant effort into the top corner, giving them an undeserved lead. But the Rouslers didn’t give up, and got their goal in added time. The ball was collected on the edge of the box by Amy Kendall, who took the ball past two defenders before firing into the bottom corner. With seconds to go, Sporting had a corner. Emma Shaw curled in a fantastic cross, agonisingly just out of the reach of Elle H-P. Sporting take a point from the game, but it still felt like a loss, having dominated possession.

COLTS NEWS – TWO FINALS!
- Our U14s (pictured below) made it into the final of the Worcestershire County Cup after a 6-0 win over Worcester City – Kidderminster Harriers await. The first half ended 1-0, but Sporting really got going in the second half and moved through the gears perfectly. Three clean sheets in a row, one cup final and still contenders in the JPL National Cup and the league too.
- Meanwhile, our U18s beat Kidderminster Lions U17s 2-1 in the semi final of the Worcestershire WFA Cup, to reach their first ever cup final. It was a very even game, where Bromsgrove matched them throughout, but did have to rely on their goalkeeper to keep them in it via several excellent saves. Goals from Keegan Read and Alex Wilkes and a MOTM performance from the keeper Mackenzie Allen!

GIRLS

- Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. They travelled to Inkberrow U10 Girls. The game started with the team struggling to find their rhythm, but as the first half progressed, they began to settle in and raise their intensity, making for a highly competitive end to the half. The second half saw Bromsgrove come out strong, matching Inkberrow in energy and determination. The girls showed great teamwork and effort, pushing hard to stay in the game. As the match wore on, their commitment was evident, but fatigue started to take its toll in the final moments. Despite a tough battle, the girls gave their all and can be proud of their performance. They now look ahead to their next match at home against Kidderminster – ready to build on this experience and continue their progress. Well done girls!
- Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. No game on the weekend just gone.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. They travelled to Knowle Wasps and came away with a well deserved 2-1 victory. The girls started really quickly and scored the opener in the first minute, through a well taken goal by Ellie. Bromsgrove continued to press forward at every opportunity, but Knowle gradually came back into the game and were rewarded when the forward outpaced Sporting’s defence to score with a well taken goal. This spurred them on and they began to exert more pressure – a slight change in formation saw Sporting restore control and Persia – poacher supreme – nipped in to get the second and eventual winner. The second half saw Bromsgrove make multiple chances but could not put the game to bed; Knowle were restricted to a few breakaways, but the defence stood firm. A very solid performance – they play local rivals Bromsgrove Rovers this weekend.
