It was double Bowl delight for Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s, after their 1-2 away win against Bilston Town U21s at the weekend.

The second place North Division outfit couldn’t keep up with the Rouslers, despite going one nil up in the first half after Tyler Baker curled in a slick finish.

A determined Bromsgrove continued to push forward and after a chaotic scurry following a pin point free kick, the Rouslers knocked the ball in and entered half time on an equal footing.

Both sides had their share of shots in the second half, but it was Bromsgrove’s George Gillon who sealed the deal with a cool strike to bag the team’s second Challenge Bowl win.

“We got what we expected against a strong Bilston side and, after a strange first half where we should have scored more, the message at half time was to raise our standards,” said U21s joint-manager, Stuart Carson.

Fellow joint-manager Mark Reeve said: “We created chances and retained possession which resulted in a good move to take the lead before finishing of with the deserved win.”

“I enjoyed our goal. It was a fantastic through pass by Ewan and Gilly finished as we know he can,” added Carson.

“To be fair to the lads they took on board our points and came away with a well deserved win.”

This week, Bromsgrove’s U21s return to league action, with a home match against Coventry United U21s.

“Onto this week and it’s great to be back at home,” said Stuart Carson.

“The pitch was looking fantastic last week and we have another tough test against Coventry United.”

The two sides last met in February, when Bromsgrove visited Coventry and took a 1-2 win on the road.

Since then, Coventry have played two league games, winning 0-2 against Stourport Swifts U21s and drawing 1-1 with Bedworth United U21s.

Sporting have maintained an impressive winning streak since their last outing against Coventry, with victories in all three matches played across both the League and Challenge Bowl.

This success has seen the Rouslers strengthen their grip on third in the league, whilst occupying a competitive joint-third position on six points in the Bowl table.

Coventry are yet to score points in the Challenge Bowl, having played only one game so far. They chase Cadbury Athletic U21s by two points for fifth in the league.

Ahead of his team’s first home game of the month, Stuart Carson said: “Thanks to everyone for their support, especially away from home.

“We now have a seven game run in, where we will be looking to keep developing the boys and hope for a strong finish to our first season.”

Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s will weclome Coventry United U21s to the UK Electrical Stadium on Saturday 15th March at 10:30 AM.
