After a disappointing loss on the road last week to Rushall Olympic, Bromsgrove Sporting were back at the Victoria Ground last Saturday to host Hitchin Town writes Shaunna-Grace Murphy. Miro Pais was back into the starting line-up after a long period of injury problems, as well as Ammar Dyer who missed the Rushall game due to an ankle injury.
The game started slowly and just after 10 minutes, Lewis Barker for Hitchin received a red card after a rash challenge on loanee Harvey Gregson. However, though the visitors were down to ten men, they took their chances and scored through Finley Wilkinson.
The second half for Sporting started well thanks to much needed changes. Manager Thomas Baillie brought on Mikey Taylor on to play up front with Dan Sweeney which instantly made an impact for the side. Sweeney smashed home on the 47th minute thanks to a Mike McGrath cross. More chances came Sporting's way with Mikey Taylor shooting wide both times. However he continued to knock on the door and his goal came in the 68th minute after a scramble in the box.
With four added minutes on the clock The Rouslers were in search of their third but Hitchin defended and played well despite being a man short.
Sporting claimed the three points in the end, despite a very well-fought battle from Hitchin. Bromsgrove now come face-to-face with ex manager Gavin Hurren at Stratford Town on Bank Holiday Monday
