Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Newell 90+3')
Harborough Town 1 (Stephens 8' P)
A late equaliser from Jack Newell saw Bromsgrove Sporting claim a share of the spoils at the UK Electrical Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Harborough dominated the opening stages and took a deserved lead after eight minutes via a Ben Stephens penalty. However, they didn't capitalise further on this early onslaught, which allowed Bromsgrove to grow into the game with time - the result of which being Newell's 93rd minute leveller.
The deadlock was broken after Sporting's latest addition, Byron Wilson, was adjudged to have brought down Jutorre Burgess in the area. The prolific Stephens stepped up to take the spotkick and coolly placed the ball into the bottom corner.
Sporting stopper Charlie Price had to be alert to keep out strikes from Luis Rose and Josh Walsh shortly after the opener.
George Atwal struck just wide for the home side in the 24th minute, whilst Burgess had a strike saved by the feet of Price up the other end moments later.
The 27th minute saw Stephens get in on goal courtesy of a counter attack, but found Price equal to his lobbed attempt.
Sporting's best spell of the half came in the final 15 minutes; Jamie Meddows had a right footed effort saved by the leg of Harborough keeper Elliott Taylor and Carter Lycett struck narrowly wide.
Harborough's Freddie Robinson had a close range strike well saved by Price in the 62nd minute and Burgess missed the target twice with a brace of efforts shortly before being substituted in the 75th minute.
Sporting ramped up the pressure as the end drew nearer and, just when it appeared as though the equaliser was going to prove elusive, Newell found himself in the right place inside the area to guide the ball into the bottom corner.
The Bees did have the ball inside the net in the seventh minute of added time, but the referee had already blown his whistle for a foul in the build up.
This was to be the final moment of action, as Sporting would go on to bag themselves a huge point, with Harborough moving into the play-off places.
