Bromsgrove Sporting 0
Alvechurch 1 (Crowther 22')
For the third home match in a row, Bromsgrove Sporting lost by a scoreline of 1-0, this time to Alvechurch, in the semi final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup.
Archie Crowther's first half header guided Tim Flowers' men to the final of the competition, where they will face Worcester City.
The evening's events began in unusual circumstances, as a medical issue caused striker Jamie Soule to leave the field of play before a ball was kicked, with Sporting beginning the game with 10 men. His replacement was Theo Robinson, and this was allotted as one of Bromsgrove's substitutes for the night.
The deadlock was broken 22 minutes in, as Crowther confidently met a corner with his head, guiding the ball into the goal.
Former Rousler Ammar Dyer almost doubled the away side's tally just 60 seconds later, but he curled his strike just wide from inside the area.
Dyer had another chance 10 minutes on, but again he was unable to find the target from a promising position.
Sporting had chances early in the second half, with Carter Lycett drilling a ball across the six yard box that nobody was on hand to guide in before Robinson had a strike saved by Alvechurch keeper Ronnie Hollingshead.
The 56th minute saw Sporting stopper Charlie Price keep out a deflected effort from Kieran Wakefield, whilst the 78th minute saw Bromsgrove's Jamie Meddows tee up Lycett from a free kick, with his fiercely struck effort kept out by the feet of Hollingshead.
The 80th minute saw Alvechurch enjoy a host of chances in quick succession; Price saved a Dan Sweeney strike before Ash Carter blocked a Shay Willock effort away from an otherwise open goal. These were both followed by Jack Newell keeping out another Sweeney attempt.
Wakefield had a chance to put the game to bed with eight minutes remaining, but he could only find the side netting.
