Despite the wet and windy conditions, this was an enormously entertaining match, truly one where you dare not take your eyes off the game.

For Sporting though it could all have gone horribly wrong, as their three-week enforced lay-off showed in the first few minutes as Brocton went two up with just four minutes on the clock.

The home side scored on the second minute with their first attack. Jordan Bloor made an excellent cross from the left into the box where Sporting centre-back Mike Thurbon steered the ball into his own net instead of clearing.

Then two minutes later David Berks skipped round three defenders before passing to team-mate Daniel Lomas who hit his shot hard and low, giving Tom Savage no chance in the Rouslers goal.

From then on Sporting woke up, shored up the defence and started to get back into the game. Their first goal in reply was not long in coming, ten minutes in fact. Lee Dunkley playing in central midfield feinted two defenders before laying off to Jon Rogers who had plenty of time to line up his shot before slotting under the diving Adam Whitehouse.

With Sporting looking for the equaliser and Brocton intent on restoring their margin there were plenty more chances. Joe Pickering for Brocton should have done better on 31 minutes when he put his shot wide and Matt Ross came close putting another goal past his own 'keeper. At the other end Chrisi Conway failed to find a gap with a good shot that bounced of a defender's legs and just before the interval he put a good chance wide of the left-hand post.

Sporting finally got their equaliser just a couple of minutes into the second half. That man Conway again, chased a long pass from Dunkley into the box, was tackled by Sam Fleming but, for the unfortunate defender, the ball ran loose to Andy Nicol who gratefully hammered his shot into the roof of the Brocton net.

Ten minutes later Sporting took the lead through the hard-working Conway who managed to thread a shot through a crowded penalty area past the left arm of Brocton 'keeper Whitehouse.

The home side increased their fire power by bring on a couple of strikers in an attempt to get back into the match. Their fast breaks being particularly effective but by now the away defence were better organised and kept out any threat.

James Turk had a couple of chances to extend the Bromsgrove side's lead but one shot was brilliantly cleared off the line by Brocton defender Andrew Chandler whilst the other was well-saved by Whitehouse.

So a great fight back by Sporting who recorded their eighth successive win in all competitions despite looking down and out so early in the match. New boys Lee Dunkley and Andy Nicol looked to have settled in the team quickly with Dunkley playing some very impressive passes up field and ably filling the boots vacated by James Blake.
