The Pitching-In Southern League Premier Division Central, Saturday 26th November, 3:00 p.m. kick-off

Bedford Town 3 (1) Bromsgrove Sporting 4 (2) at the Eyrie

There is plenty of drama at Bromsgrove Sporting at present. After last week’s drubbing of second placed Nuneaton Borough, The Rouslers travelled to Bedford searching for another three points last Saturday against The Eagles. Not only did they get the points but gained a win in dramatic circumstances. After leading at halftime, Bedford took the lead midway through the second period, only for Sporting to score twice in the last four minutes to earn the win.

The visitors started much brighter forcing a couple of corners in the opening stages and it came as no surprise when player/manager Mike McGrath headed home from Ryan Edmunds’ well-placed third corner on the 11th minute.

The home side though got one back just eight minutes later when Sporting’s clearance from a corner found Diadier Camara whose powerful shot took a wicked deflection leaving Ollie Taylor between the sticks with no chance.

However with just another five minutes on the clock, the Bromsgrove side we’re back in the lead courtesy of ace striker Dan Sweeney who converted Amman Dyer’s excellent cross and so the score remained until halftime.

After the break, the Eagles came out fired up, clearly intending to even up the score line.

It was not a game for the faint hearted with no 50/50 balls and after a flare up, two players from each side ended up in referee Mr Fletcher’s book.

When the football resumed, Bedford were still on the front foot and gained a controversial penalty on 74 minutes when captain Tom Taylor allegedly pushed over Kai Phelan in the box. Connor Tomlinson easily converted the spot kick sending Ollie Taylor the wrong way.

Three minutes later Bedford were in the lead when Jack Keeble powerfully headed in a corner.

However, Sporting were not finished and the equaliser came with four minutes of normal time left and what a goal. Kieron Dyer sent a long ball down the right flank that was picked up by Sweeney, he dummied one defender, took the ball into the box, dummied two more before firing past ‘keeper Aymen Azaze at a narrow angle.

Sporting though were not finished and with one minute remaining, Dyer hooked the ball upfield, Sweeney latched on to it just over the halfway line accelerating into the penalty area and with just Azaze to beat slid the under the advancing keeper to earn his side a late but welcome victory and the match ball for himself for another hat-trick.

Sporting line-up: Ollie Taylor, Ammar Dyer, Kieron Dawes, Joe Curtis, Tom Taylor (Capt), Mike McGrath, Kai Lissimore, Mo Njie, Dan Sweeney(Callum King-Harmes 90 mins), Miro Pais, Ryan Edmunds (Jack Tolley 76 mins). Unused substitutes: Lewis Wright, Dom Perkins, Adam Marusiak.

Referee: Mr M Fletcher, attendance: 577
