OPPOSITION
- 2023/24 league position: 2nd (National League South. Step Two – one above Sporting)
- The Clarets, who finished 11 points behind champions Yeovil, went into the play-offs but lost their opening match at home to 5th place Braintree (2-3 AET).
- Last season: P38 W24 D12 L10. GD +33. 84 points.
- In the same league this season, they are currently 12th, with 12 points from nine games (W3 D3 L3 GD +5)
- In the league at home, they are unbeaten (W1 D3). The win was their most recent home league game, a 3-0 victory over Bath (19th place). This was preceded by three 1-1 home draws.
- An average start to the league season has improved of late. A winless first six games (D3 L3) has been followed by three consecutive wins – they are the only team in the NLS to have won their three most recent matches. These were the Bath win, plus away successes at Maidstone (1-5 – 16th place) and Hornchurch (0-2 – 14th place, last time out).
- On top of this, with 12 goals in their last five games, only Hemel Hempstead (1st place) have scored more in the same period (10th placed Chesham have also scored 12 in their last five).
- In the league this season, Osman Foyo is their top scorer with four. Jake Hyde and Charlie Ruff have three each.
- In the Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round (the round previous, their first game of the competition), they beat Tilbury (Step 8 – two below Chelmsford) 2-0 away – this result, along with the Hornchurch and Bath wins, made it three clean sheets in a row in all competitions.
- Charlie Ruff scored both goals in that Tilbury win.
- Last year, Chelmsford exited at the Fourth Qualifying Round, losing via a replay to Whitby Town (Step 7). Prior to that, Chelmsford beat Bromsgrove in the Third Qualifying Round, also via a replay.
