Despite missing their last match, the U21s are working just as hard to prepare for this weekend’s away day.

Due to the first team’s involvement in the FA Cup last Saturday, the team’s home fixture against Bedworth United was postponed.

However, the U21s instead used last Saturday to train, with joint manager Mark Reeve offering an insight into his team’s training and their buildup to Saturday’s game:

“Following a good training workout on Saturday, we have turned our attention to this Wednesday’s training session,” said Mark.

“Training was competitive and played with an edge to get the lads ready and focused for Saturday’s trip away to Diamond Academy.”

Sporting’s U21s will travel to King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School on Saturday to play the Birmingham-based Diamonds Academy – the team they achieved a convincing 9-0 victory over in their last clash.

This Saturday’s game will also see the team’s striking green and white away kit make its debut.

In other news, the weekend just gone saw Sporting U21s alumni Zac Powell make his first appearance for the first team in their FA Cup Second Round Qualifier against Bottesford Town.

“I’m really happy to have made my starting debut this week,” Zac said.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me. Looking ahead, I’m eager to keep building on this performance and continue growing as a player.

“I’m excited for what’s to come and hopeful for more opportunities and minutes to make an impact.”
