LADIES
- At the weekend, the Ladies bagged a 2-0 win at the UK Electrical Stadium against Hereford Pegasus, in front of a good crowd! The pre-match team-talk by the coaches asked the Ladies to come out flying at the start of the first half, and that is exactly what Sporting did. Straight from Hereford’s kick-off, the ball was won in midfield, and new signing Emma Shaw played the ball into Charlotte Wallis, who wrestled through a couple of challenges before passing the ball into the bottom corner in just 57 seconds! From then on, it was only Sporting who looked like creating any opportunities. The Ladies kept their high intensity throughout the first half, creating lots of chances. Despite not getting the goals they deserved, Sporting kept pushing for the important second goal. This eventually came in the 45th minute, when a corner was eventually finished brilliantly by Elle H-P to make it 2-0. The second half started as the first finished, with high intensity, and Hereford being forced to only play long, direct balls over the top, which were easily defended by Sporting. Sporting did create more good chances in the 2nd half, but were denied by the Hereford keeper. Game management was key in this half, as Hereford changed formation to play more players up front to try and get into the game. The Sporting Ladies managed this perfectly, controlling the tempo of the game to play at their own pace. A very deserved win and clean sheet to go with it – exactly what the Ladies deserved after recent performances.
- They have no game this weekend.

GIRLS

- Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. They travelled to face Newtown Sports U10s and the girls brought an extra boost of confidence into the game. From the first whistle, the girls showed determination, pressing high and making it a very tough first half for the opposition. After the break, Sporting kept up their intensity, dominating possession and pushing Newtown Sports deep into their own half for most of the second half. Their stamina and teamwork shone through, making it a fantastic performance from every player on the pitch. A brilliant effort from the whole team, and they now look ahead to their next match at home against Nunnery Wood.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. A 0-2 loss to Droitwich Spa Ravens at the weekend. With Droitwich sitting top of the league, they knew it would be a tough game and that turned out to be the case. Sporting started well and were getting the ball down and passing nicely in the early stages. It was a very close and competitive game, with few chances for either side, but midway through the half, Droitwich took the lead with an optimistic shot taking a deflection and sneaking in the bottom corner. That goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Sporting and they never really recovered. Sporting did battle well in midfield and some good defending limited Droitwich to minimal chances but, at the other end, Bromsgrove were unable to get past a resolute Droitwich defence. The second half saw Sporting lose a bit of momentum and the game turned more scrappy. Droitwich doubled their lead with a good finish from the edge of the box. Sporting continued to push to get back into the game but it wasn’t to be their day.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. They travelled to high flying Coundon Court at the weekend, with several new players in the squad and were beaten 4-1. Starting well, Bromsgrove gave as good as they got and were unfortunate to go a goal down from a corner. It continued to be a good, even game and then a hopeful lob sailed into the top corner of Bromsgrove’s goal. The third was another corner, which Sporting didn’t defend very well and, despite a desperate goal line clearance, it was deemed to be a goal. The second half was an even game, with both sides scoring. Despite Sporting’s best efforts, they could not reduce the deficit. Four new signings all had good debuts and look to be fine players who will strengthen the squad for the final run in. Next week, they entertain Old Wulfrunians.
