LADIES
- Sporting fell to an unfortunate defeat against Worcester City Reserves last weekend, with the opposition only having two meaningful opportunities. Sporting Ladies were dominant throughout, but just couldn’t get the ball in the Worcester goal after netting the opener. Sporting took the lead after 20 minutes, with brilliant work from Ruby to get round her defender before putting in a pin-point cross for Laura to score at the near post. The hosts were back level 10 minutes before half time, through a great strike into the top corner. Sporting pushed all second half to get the lead, but the referee gave a penalty which was converted. Whilst this ended up being the winning moment, Sporting came very close to equalising via a Ruby corner that Lydia narrowly knocked wide. A much better performance than last week by Sporting, and the Ladies can deem themselves very unfortunate not to get something from the game. Player of the match Shian-Terri Atkins.
- This Sunday sees the Ladies play at the UK Electrical Stadium, in the league, against Long Itchington Ladies, (2:00 KO).
- The bar will be open.

LADIES DEVELOPMENT
- Last weekend, the Devs drew 1-1 against Droitwich Spa Development, in a scrappy game, where Sporting, despite being the best team, were unable to convert enough chances. The first half was spent mostly in the opponents half, restricting them to the very few chances. Unfortunately, just before half time, one of their rare chances flew into the back of the Sporting net. Second half saw chances made and missed, until the equaliser was calmly slotted into the net by Lucy.
- This Sunday sees the Devs face Ross Juniors away.
VETERANS
- The Veterans won their Premier Division Cup match at Droitwich Spa 3-4 last weekend.
- This Sunday, they face Droitwich Spa again, this time in a league game at the UK Electrical Stadium (10:30 KO).

- Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. The team started their match against Droitwich last weekend with great energy and determination, putting the opposition under pressure from the first whistle. Their strong performance in the first half made for an exciting and competitive contest, with some excellent teamwork and individual efforts on display. However, as the game progressed into the second half, the pace began to take its toll on the Bromsgrove players. Despite their best efforts, they struggled to maintain the intensity they had shown earlier, allowing Droitwich to gain the upper hand. The girls gave their all but couldn’t finish the game with the same drive they had started with. It was a tough match, but the team showed plenty of positives to build on for the next game. Bromsgrove Sporting Girls U10s will be looking to bounce back when they travel to Inkberrow this weekend for another exciting challenge. Well played, girls!
- Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. Last weekend, they played out a 0-0 draw against a very good Worcester City side. The game was a close one, with both defences on top. From the start, Worcester pressed Sporting very well and made it difficult to play. Both teams managed to get the ball down and play well in spells, with some good football on show throughout. There were few chances in the first half, other than a couple of long range shots – one of which from Worcester that was brilliantly tipped onto the bar by Layla. At the other end, the ball broke nicely for Gracie, but her shot was well blocked. In the second half, Emily managed to break through down the right, but her shot well saved. Worcester then managed to do most of the pressing, but the Sporting girls defended resolutely, with Layla also pulling off a number of good saves to keep the score at 0-0. A cracking game of football, which was well contested by two good sides. No league game this weekend, but they will play a friendly away at Redditch Eagles.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. They had a local derby versus Bromsgrove Rovers last weekend and came out well deserved 9-0 winners. Sporting were on top right from the start and were pushing for the opener against a resolute Rovers defence. The attacks were inevitably building up the pressure and it was no surprise when the first goal went in after seven minutes, quickly followed by a second. The Rovers defended really well but gave away a penalty, which was saved by their keeper. Despite attacking relentlessly, it took till the 36th minute to get the third – 3-0 at half time. The second half was a replica of the first, with Sporting applying pressure and Rovers defiant in the defence of their goal. Goals were scored on a fairly regular basis though, the highlight being Ruby scoring four goals to get Player of the Match. Credit must go to Rovers, for their never say die defending. Sporting play Knowle away this weekend.
