RECENT RESULTS: Men’s and women’s teams

Our men’s and women’s both enjoyed recent successes; find out about those here…

Men’s team

On Tuesday 13th April, Sporting played a practice match/friendly against Alcester Town at the Victoria Ground. This was arranged by manager Brendan Kelly at fairly short notice and unfortunately owing to COVID restrictions, spectators could not be admitted.

Unlike their rivals whose last game was the 3 – 3 draw at home against Alvechurch on Boxing Day, Alcester had the benefit of having played a couple of matches more recently so had some degree of match fitness.

However, Sporting gained a 3 – 1 win against their Midland Football League Division Two rivals. Playing towards the Town End, Jason Cowley opened the scoring on the 11th minute following an assist from Nathan Hayward. Mikey Taylor doubled the advantage with 16 minutes on the clock and so the scoreline remained until half-time.

For the second half, the visitors came out stronger and got a deserved goal back with 54 minutes on the clock but Mikey Taylor with his second on 73 minutes effectively put the match beyond the reach of Alcester.

Women’s team

In their last match of the season at the Victoria Ground, Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies beat local rivals Droitwich Spa Belles 3 – 0. Goals came from Alpha Wood and Millie Seager in the first half with Toyah Spoor getting the third after the interval.
