At last month’s league fixture versus Worcester City, a minute’s applause took place in honour of Bromsgrove Rovers legend, Chris Hooper.
At this game, Chris’ family were invited as special guests – Chris’ son, Gary, said the following…
“Thank you to everyone who took part in the minutes applause at the game against Worcester on the 21st February, in respect of the death of my dad Chris Hooper, who played 12 years for Bromsgrove Rovers.
“Thank you to everyone who took part in the minutes applause at the game against Worcester on the 21st February, in respect of the death of my dad Chris Hooper, who played 12 years for Bromsgrove Rovers.
It was a special day, with the players, ex players, family and friends honouring dad – it meant a lot.
A massive thank you to Dave Stephens for his hospitality on the day, but more so his sincerity over the last few months.
Once again, thank you to you all. Up the Rouslers!“
Chris was arguably Bromsgrove Rovers’ greatest ever goalkeeper, achieving an incredible 686 appearances. This put him second on the all-time appearance list, behind Shaun O’Meara.
Rovers historians, Michael Tovey and Graham Reynolds, penned a tribute to Chris, which can be read here.
Our thoughts continue to be with Chris’ family at this difficult time.
