PLAYER OF THE MONTH: King on January Award Win

Before our most recent match, midfielder Reece King marked winning Player of the Month for January with his sponsor for the season – diehard Sporting fan Kevin Baggott.

Reece won January Player of the Month with 28% of the vote, in what was an extremely close contest with teammates Carter Lycett, Ash Carter and Aaron Roberts.

Impressive performances in our win at Kettering and draw with Hitchin were undoubtedly factors in the no-nonsense central midfielder winning the award.

Reflecting on winning the award, Reece commented: “I would like to thank everyone that voted for me for Player of the Month. Although I am honoured, our successful January period has been down to all the players and staff, and the fans as well.

“Scotty and Daryl have done a fantastic job since coming in – we had some difficult away fixtures in January and the support we had at the likes of Halesowen and Kettering really helped towards us securing the three points in those games.

“On a personal level, I’m really pleased to have scored two goals in January to contribute to the team’s successes. From a possible 15 points that were up for grabs in January, we managed 10, and some of those teams were amongst the play offs!

“Thanks again to all the fans for their continued support – I will add that we will try hard to improve our home form!”

A thoroughly deserved award for Kingy, in what has been a brilliant season thus far.
