Mickleover 4 (2) Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (0) at The Don Amott Arena

There was more disappointment for Bromsgrove Sporting last Tuesday evening as they went down to another loss, this time playing against an energetic and proficient Mickleover side just outside Derby.

Tom Taylor was late arriving so Kieron Dawes took his place in the centre of defence whilst Mikey Taylor was given the captain's armband. The other change was a debut for Mo Sebbeh Njie in midfield, signed earlier in the day from Alfreton Town.

From the outset it was obvious that the home side's tactics were to move the ball round quickly and to make fast breaks. As a result, Sporting saw little of the ball for the first 10 minutes whilst Mickelover had two free-kicks go wanting and forced Bromsgrove 'keeper Liam Armstrong into a couple of decent saves.

The breakthrough for the home side finally came with 16 minutes on the clock when Armstrong did well to parry Stuart Beavon's shot only to go out to Oliver Greaves who blasted the rebound into the Sporting net.

At that point Sporting got more into the game with a few forays up field but nothing materialised as the Mickleover back line allowed the opposing forwards little time on the ball.

As the clock rolled on to 34 minutes there was nothing the Rouslers' defence could do when Mitchell Rose lined up a shot from around 25 yards out which ended up in the top right-hand corner of Armstrong's net.

The home side could have had a couple more before the interval but for two blocks and a tip over by the Sporting 'keeper.

After changing ends, it was business as usual with Mickleover pretty much dictating the play though Mike McGrath did have a half-chance just after the interval and the Sporting centre-back did well with 15 minutes of the half gone when he blocked a goal-bound shot over the bar.

Unfortunately the home side were still pressing and their third goal came three minutes later with Elliott Reeves glancing a cross from the left into the top of the net.

From then on Sporting had probably their best spell of the match. Substitute Miro Pais got stuck in pretty quickly when he came on, probably too much earning a yellow card for a wild tackle and he nearly got another moments later for a similar challenge but referee Mr Hibble instead gave him a stern lecture.

However Mickleover substitute George Dunn was not as fortunate as the assistant referee saw him lash out at Tom Taylor and Mr Hibble immediately brandished a red card.

Mikey Taylor had a couple of good chances and finally got a deserved goal on the 89th minute following a ball into the box by George Forsyth and the assertive striker got the final touch after a goalmouth scramble.

Taylor could have got another couple in added time but home 'keeper Jon Hedge was alert enough to avoid any problems for his team. However with most Sporting players in the opposition half, he hoofed the ball up field to winger Andrew Dales who easily put a low shot past Armstrong for the fourth.

There was then just enough time to re-start before Mr Hibble called an end to proceedings. So, another disappointing match for the Rouslers but the addition of West Bromwich Albion legend Richard Sneekes to the backroom staff will hopefully add some much-needed coaching expertise and points should follow.
