Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Taylor 72', Kettle Red Card 90+5')

Bromsgrove Sporting's first league match on the road for over a month ended in defeat on Saturday afternoon, as they lost 2-1 at Lowestoft Town.

The talismanic Jake Reed put the home side in front early on, before Connor Taylor notched up his first Sporting goal with 18 minutes remaining.

The winner came in the 79th minute, as Ryan Hawkins slotted a penalty kick home into the bottom corner.

Lowestoft started far brighter than Bromsgrove, with the second minute seeing Kieran Higgs cap off a menacing run into the area with a strike that was wide of the mark.

They would only have to wait three minutes more for the opener though, as a ball across the box was knocked in towards the far post by the prolific Reed.

For the remainder of the half, Sporting were the team creating most of the chances. In the 12th minute, a Will Shorrock free kick eventually came to captain Leon Broadhurst, who somehow sent a header from inside the six yard box wide.

This was followed by Joel Kettle and Miro Pais missing the target with headed opportunities of their own, whilst midfielders Nathan Hayward and Jack Hallahan both struck wide from around 20 yards inside the final 10 minutes of the opening 45.

Sporting started the second half sharply, with Hallahan hitting the post from close range before Shorrock struck wide from inside the area.

The 62nd minute saw the lively Higgs move into the area once again, but was unable to hit the target from a promising position.

Bromsgrove's equaliser came 10 minutes later - some neat interplay between Taylor and Demetri Brown resulted in the former striking the ball sweetly into the net.

The home team would regain the lead with seven minutes remaining, as a James Mace shirt pull in the box resulted in Hawkins scoring his penalty, sending keeper Akos Onodi the wrong way in the process.

The game ended on a sour note, as a coming together between Sporting's Joel Kettle and Lowestoft's assistant manager Andy Reynolds not only resulted in a huge fracas between the two teams, but also the Bromsgrove defender getting sent off. Reynolds received a yellow.
