Kettering Town 1 (Isaacson 45')
Bromsgrove Sporting 0
A goal just before half time proved enough to continue Kettering Town's fine form, as they narrowly prevailed over Bromsgrove Sporting.
Ben Isaacson's 45th minute header proved to be the difference between the sides, in what was a fairly even contest.
Sporting had some early headed chances, but neither Jack Newell nor Lewis Green were able to capitalise on their respective efforts.
Blaine Rowe hit the side netting for the home side in the 33rd minute, before the Poppies' Eddie Panter squandered a golden opportunity five minutes later - he pounced on an undercooked backpass and surged forward, only to somehow balloon his strike over the bar from a one-on-one position.
The goal came via a free kick into the box that Isaacson, from near the back stick, headed the ball across the face of goal and into the net.
The Rouslers had some good chances early in the second half - debutant Kyle Belmonte had a corner cleared off the line before turning provider, teeing Niall Flint up with a pinpoint through ball; unfortunately for the visitors, Flint could only find keeper Paul White's chest with his shot.
The 62nd minute saw appeals for a Sporting penalty ignored, with the referee deeming that George Forsyth did not handle the ball in an unnatural position - a viewpoint not shared by Bromsgrove players and management alike.
Both sides had chances at the death - substitute Nathan Jeche had a shot from inside the area saved by Rory Brown, before the Sporting stopper was involved in an opportunity up the other end; a Jack Kelly free kick was headed on by Brown, eventually falling at the feet of skipper Aaron Roberts. He saw his effort blocked away, as Bromsgrove's valiant efforts to get a late equaliser ultimately proved to be in vain.
