Hitchin Town 1 (Deall 24')
Bromsgrove Sporting 3 (Palmer 17', Meddows 45+3', Wragg 82')
Bromsgrove Sporting kickstarted their 2024/25 league season with a commanding 3-1 win at Hitchin Town.
Sporting's first goal of the season was scored by right back Shay Palmer before Rio Deall equalised for the home side.
Jamie Meddows put Bromsgrove back in front with seconds of the first half remaining and the scoring was complete in the 82nd minute, courtesy of a fine effort from Charlie Wragg.
Walsall loanee Wragg had a shot blocked in the eighth minute. The opener came nine minutes later, as Palmer headed home a cracking Meddows corner at the near post.
The scores were level in the 24th minute, as Deall capped a counter attack with a strike from inside the area.
Bromsgrove's Callum King-Harmes struck the ball well over the bar with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. The game's third goal came at the perfect time for Sporting, as Meddows stylishly powered the ball home from close range in the third minute of additional time after being teed up by Wragg.
Meddows had a couple of chances early in the second half saved by keeper James Callan, who had to pull off another good stop in the 66th minute from a Wragg free kick.
The Canaries had half chances to level proceedings once more, with Sporting's Charlie Price saving a routine header in the 71st minute before Harry Titchmarsh blazed a strike over the upright 10 minutes later.
The final goal of the game was scored just a minute later, as Wragg moved with the ball and beat a couple of men in the area, which allowed him to slot the ball home with consummate ease to give the Rouslers an ultimately unassailable two goal cushion.
