Halesowen Town 3 (Finn 61', Holmes 65', Wollacott 70')
Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Lewthwaite 3')
Bromsgrove Sporting squandered a first half lead in the opening game of 2026 on Saturday afternoon, as they lost 3-1 at Halesowen Town.
Sporting took the lead early on via a close range effort from Tyrone Lewthwaite and were good value for their half time lead. However, three goals inside 10 minutes from Kyle Finn, Fin Holmes and Ryan Wollacott completely took the game away from the Rouslers.
Bromsgrove got off to the best possible start, as captain Aaron Roberts knocked down a corner into the path of Lewthwaite, who bundled the ball home from inside the six yard box.
Finn hit the ball just over the bar from the edge of area in the ninth minute, whilst Luke Softley blocked Alex Gudger's effort in first half additional time, as the home side hunted for the equaliser.
They would have to wait until the 61st minute to get the leveller, as Finn knocked in a Ben Cassidy cross at the front post.
Former Rousler Jason Cowley hit the woodwork in the 63rd minute - five minutes later, Halesowen led, via another ex-Sporting star, as Holmes marauded forward and found the net with an accurate strike.
Nine minutes of misery were complete for Sporting in the 70th minute, as Wollacott got to the ball at the near post and simply knocked it in past Bromsgrove keeper Rory Brown.
The final 20 minutes lacked any real chances, as Halesowen boosted their hopes of obtaining a play off place with this New Year victory.
