A Leon Broadhurst header and an inspired performance from goalkeeper Daniel Platt guided Bromsgrove Sporting to a 1-0 win over Tamworth, putting them top of the league.
The top of the table clash saw its only goal scorer in the 58th minute, as a Greg Mills free kick was headed into the path of Broadhurst by a Tamworth defender, allowing him to convert at the back post.
The first chance of the game fell to Tamworth, as Dan Creaney beat the offside line but saw a one on one saved by Platt.
It was deja vu soon after, as Platt saved a Creaney effort with his feet, after the Tamworth forward had beaten off the defenders.
Bilal Yafai had a brace of efforts in quick succession midway through the half but was unable to truly test Platt with either of them.
Sporting's first chance of note in the game came on the half hour mark, as a Mills free kick resulted in Tom Taylor having two close range shots cleared off the line.
The final five minutes of the half saw Creaney have a further two one on ones; the first struck wide off balance, the second hit straight at Platt.
Bromsgrove's Gift Mussa had the first chance of the second half, that being a low shot from 20 yards which Tamworth stopper Jasbir Singh held easily.
Rhys Hoenes struck a 56th minute effort directly at Platt from a promising position, but two minutes later, Sporting took the lead, courtesy of centre back Broadhurst's header, that was made possible by Mills' free kick into the area.
Josh Quaynor had a left footed effort from distance held by Singh, whilst Platt was called into action moments later, as a James Fry shot drew an exceptional fingertip save from the Sporting stopper.
A Ryan Beswick free kick in the 77th minute flew into the grateful grasp of Platt and despite plenty of pressure in the final stages from the visitors, they were ultimately unable to find away to level proceedings.
The last opportunity of the game fell to Sporting, as substitute Shaquille McDonald's shot from 35 yards trickled narrowly wide, with keeper Singh up the attacking end for a corner.
Bromsgrove manager Bren Kelly expressed his delight: "It's a massive win. Our goalkeeper was outstanding and gave us the platform to win. I can't stop smiling!"
Tamworth joint manager Gary Smith said: "We weren't clinical enough in front of goal and it's come back to bite us. I thought we were the better side for most of the game but if you don't take your chances, you know the opposition could score a scrappy goal and they did."
