The Pitching-In Southern League Premier Division Central, Tuesday 7th March 2023, 7:45 p.m. kick-off

Bromsgrove Sporting 2 (2) Needham Market (0) 0 at The Victoria Ground

Bromsgrove started the game quickly and took the lead in the first minute with an excellent curling effort from recent signing Conor Tee writes Iain Queen. The skilful winger whipped his foot around the ball and gave Needham 'keeper Marcus Garnham no chance with his powerful effort from just outside the box. This was Tee’s second goal in as many matches and the former Leicester youth player continues to impress with his passing and attacking threat.

The home side continued to press and put the opposition on the back foot. In the 11th minute they doubled their lead after captain Tom Taylor rose above his marker to head home from 8 yards. It was a perfect ball in from Smalley who caused problems for the Needham defence all game with his set pieces.

Sporting then nearly then made it three when Tee connected with a header after good work on the left-hand side from Jack Tolley. Unfortunately his attempt was stopped by Garnham to keep the score line at 2-0.

Late in the half, The Marketmen nearly halved the deficit after a free-kick from striker Patrick Brothers was superbly curled over the wall but Ollie Taylor between the stick for Bromsgrove was equal to it and managed to push the ball away for a corner. And so the first half ended with Bromsgrove Sporting two goals up and playing with confidence.

The second half was a quieter affair and hardly surprising Sporting's tactics were to defend their lead. Both sides though did have occasional chances with Tolley and Smalley coming close for the Rouslers whilst at the other end Kartell Dawkins cleared a useful effort from Needham off the line.

However as the half wore on, and legs tired, tempers frayed somewhat resulting in a flurry of yellow cards and a red for Needham's Seth Chambers in added time for a dangerous tackle.

Referee Mr Shepherd finally blew for full time after playing an extra five minutes as the temperature dropped making it a useful three points for Sporting and as an added bonus, a clean sheet.
