Bromsgrove Sporting 3-2 Inkberrow
Smedley Crooke Memorial Challenge Cup 1st Round.
On Tuesday evening Bromsgrove Sporting took on Inkberrow in the Smedley Crooke Challenge Cup. The home side started brightly and their early pressure was rewarded when Sean Brain latched on to a through pass, calmly rounded the Inkberrow keeper Tom Porter and slotted into the empty net to give the Rouslers the lead.
Bromsgrove kept the pressure on with Ahmed Ali and Jake Wilcox dominating the middle of the park, and in the 31st minute when Porter was caught off his line, Chris Lloyd smashed the ball home.
In the early part of the second period, The Rouslers wasted some good opportunities with Porter making a good save to deny Chris Conway from close range. Porter though could do nothing when Lloyd played in Conway and with no hesitation, placed his shot inside the far post in the 54th minute.
Almost instantly after the restart a mix up at the back gifted Inkberrow two great chances but Chris Jay saved the initial effort well before the follow up shot went flying over. Bromsgrove didnt learn from their mistakes and George Thomas finished well to get Inkberrow on the score sheet in the 76th minute.
The last few minutes were made nervy for Sporting after a long ball forward landed at the feet of unmarked Sean Parish who beat Jay to make it 3-2.
