Banbury United 2 (Gordon 29', Ngaah Bosio 32')
A lethargic Bromsgrove Sporting lost their first home league game since March 2018, as they were beaten 2-0 by Banbury United.
Goals from Jannai Gordon and Roger Ngaah Bosio midway through the first half gave ensured the visitors would head back to Oxfordshire with three points.
The first meaningful chances of the half fell to Sporting, as Leon Broadhurst had a shot from just outside the area that clattered the post, before Kieren Westwood hit the rebound wide.
The opener for Banbury came 29 minutes in, as sloppiness at the back from Sporting allowed Gordon to comfortably slot home past Tony Breeden from a one on one situation.
Three minutes later it was two, as Ngaah Bosio pounced on some equally poor defending from the home side to emphatically drive the ball into the net.
Gordon could have doubled his tally with five minutes of the half remaining, but he put his effort wide.
The second half saw Bromsgrove have the majority of the chances, but little clinicalness in front of goal.
Richard Gregory hit a free header from a lovely Westwood cross 10 minutes into the half, before Shaquille McDonald struck wide from an acute angle a minute later.
Further chances for the home side saw substitute Kyle Perry and Joe Hull have efforts comfortably saved by Banbury keeper Jack Harding, whilst McDonald hit the side netting with 15 minutes left.
Gregory had a curled strike in injury time easily held by Harding, with Banbury substitute John Mills shooting wide with one of the last kicks of the game.

An excellent three points on the road
This was Banbury's 40th visit to the Victoria Ground for a league fixture but the first time that the hosts had been Bromsgrove Sporting rather than Rovers. Their debut meeting finished as a great success as they inflicted Sporting’s first home loss for eighteen months. However, United got off to an unlucky start when Jack Westbrook fell ill during the pre-match warm-up, and was moved to substitute.
Banbury had the best of the early exchanges and it was completely against the run of play in the 19th minute when former Stourbridge stalwart Leon Broadhurst clattered the post with a fierce 20-yard drive which bounced back into play before being cleared.
Five minutes later it was United’s turn to rue their luck when a shot from Jaanai Gordon was deflected into the side-netting. Banbury at last made their superiority count in the 29th minute when Anderson Cayola Villarroel placed a beautifully weighted pass through the middle for Gordon, who beat the offside trap before placing his shot to the right of ‘keeper Tony Breeden and into the net from 12 yards out.
Three minutes later, United doubled their lead when continued good build-up forward play resulted in Ricky Johnson slipping the ball inside to Roger Ngaah Bosia who blasted the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box, giving Breeden no chance whatsoever.
Gordon went close again in the 40th minute, but his shot went wide, and Banbury looked good for the points as half-time fell.
The second-half was a little like a war of attrition as the home side pushed forward with greater urgency, and United had to defend for longer periods but with Johnson now moved back to centre-half they always looked fairly comfortable as the game neared its conclusion. Jack Harding’s handling was first class throughout, as was Johnson's centre-half play, winning everything in the air, to make certain of the points.
United could have given the score a more emphatic look in the last five minutes, firstly when Rasulo failed to pick out an unmarked Silva in acres of space and then when Silva himself set up substitute Mills who shot narrowly wide.
