Sporting's run of good away form continued this evening with a convincing win against Derbyshire club, Borrowash Victoria, to go through to the next round of the FA Vase.

Following a spate of vandalism, Borrowash were unable to play at their own ground and that next door that was supposed to be used last Saturday before heavy rain called the game off was unavailable so both teams had to travel to north of Derby to play the match.

With fog covering much of the ground and everybody hoping that it would not get any thicker, Borrowash made the brighter start with Danny Briscoe beating the offside trap on the 2nd and with only Jake Bedford in the Sporting goal to beat fired high over the bar.

After playing little competitive football for over 3 weeks the Bromsgrove outfit were lacking a little sharpness but things improved as the game went on and on 17 minutes they had their best move of the match so far when Sam Wills put the ball in the net only for it to be ruled offside.

Victoria responded with a couple of useful efforts from Kane Jellyman and Dave Moon but Bedford was not really troubled.

Aaron Daniels was proving to be the main threat for Sporting not just for his striking prowess but also for a couple of well-paced crosses. However they came to nothing and at half-time the game was goalless.

Playing down hill after the interval, Sporting moved the ball around well stretching the Borrowash defence and looking for an opening and it came on 57 minutes when Reece Hewitt saw 'keeper Gary Young just off his line and fired a sublime 20-yard shot into the top corner of the net to give Sporting the lead.

The second came a minute later this time Ryan Mahon chipped a neat pass over the back four that Sean Brain picked up and lobbed Young from 15 yards out.

Two minutes later Brain got his second and Sporting's third when Young and his two centre backs got into a muddle only for the ball to run loose to the unmarked striker who simply tapped into an empty net.

The home side pressed forward in an attempt to reduce the deficit and produced their best effort of the half through Jellyman on the 71st minute when he forced Bedford to make a low save.

Three minutes later Hewitt hit the post with a low drive but it was substitute Danny Lennon who scored Sporting's 4th from 15 yards out with 11 minutes to go.

With attack being the best form of defence, Sporting kept their hosts pinned back in their own half and concentrated on keeping possession with slow build-ups. By now the Borrowash defence was looking tired and demoralised and the final goal of the game gave Sean Brain his hat-trick on the 84th minute when he hit home a poor clearance after Jozsef Jakab's shot was saved.

After the Match manager Paul Smith said "We were a bit slow starting but we could have had the lead at half-time. However we had a good second half so after a long journey and a long day, I am happy with the result".
So Sporting are now through to the 3rd round but have a tough match against Leicester side Thurnby Nirvana on 6th December.
