Bishop's Stortford 0
Bromsgrove Sporting 2 (Carter 11', Meddows 84')
Bromsgrove Sporting made it a scintillating seven games unbeaten on Tuesday night, with a commanding win over Bishop's Stortford.
Defender Ash Carter gave the Rouslers an early lead, which was doubled with six minutes of normal time remaining, via another special strike from the in-form Jamie Meddows.
The opener came 11 minutes in, as a Billy Shaw corner caused all manner of problems inside the area, eventually leading to Carter scoring, with the Stortford defender standing on the line unable to keep the ball out with his head.
The Blues' Bradley Russell unleashed an effort from range, just two minutes after the goal, that Sporting stopper Charlie Price kept out with a fine save.
Stortford enjoyed some half chances thereafter, but the final 10 minutes of the first half saw Sporting have a whole host of good opportunities, with captain Luke Rowe and Jack Newell both having strikes blocked before Theo Robinson had an attempt from an acute angle saved by the foot of keeper Elliot Krasniqi.
The start of the second half was delayed after Stortford's Jaden Ogwuazor received medical treatment for what was believed to be chest pains - he was replaced by Mark Haines before the whistle was blown, leaving the field on a stretcher to respectful applause from both sets of fans.
The home side had a couple of huge chances around the hour mark; firstly, Russell had a shot from inside the box exquisitely finger-tipped onto the post by Price before Ryan Charles, who was making his 200th appearance for the club, headed the ball narrowly wide from an inviting position.
The 76th minute saw Shaw have a couple of efforts blocked in quick succession. Eight minutes later, the second goal came, as substitute Jack Newall teed up Meddows, which allowed him to find the back of the net with a venomous left footed drive from a little over 20 yards out.
The final few moments saw Bromsgrove defender Aksum White hit a strike over the bar and Archie Thurston, who has been playing for Sporting's U21s side this season, come off the bench for his first team debut.
