AFC Sudbury 1 (Peters 90+2')
Bromsgrove Sporting 0

Bromsgrove Sporting could count themselves extremely unlucky to take nothing away from Suffolk on Saturday afternoon, as they lost 1-0 at AFC Sudbury.

Despite the Rouslers having the majority of the game's major chances, it was an Oliver Peters goal in the second minute of injury time that proved to be the difference between the two sides. To add to Sporting's woes, it appeared as though a clear handball offence had taken place in the build up to the winner.

Clear chances were few and far between during the first half; an indirect free kick in the 33rd minute saw Peters tee up Joe Neal on the edge of the area, but his strike was deflected over the bar by Ash Carter.

Sporting skipper Luke Rowe and Peters had opportunities to score towards the end of the half, but neither were able to capitalise on them.

Sudbury's Myles Cowling had a couple of chances early in the second half - one was a close range shot that Bromsgrove keeper Charlie Price saved and the other was a strike from inside the box blocked well by Rowe.

The 58th minute saw Sporting's Theo Robinson blaze an effort well over the bar after being set up via a long Carter ball. Four minutes later, Ryan Boothe passed to Reece King, but the Sporting midfielder's shot from inside the area was blocked.

Further chances came Bromsgrove's way, as Boothe struck wide in the 67th minute before Jamie Meddows almost guided a cross into the goal, only to see his attempt blocked.

Sporting's Aksum White found himself in on goal with five minutes of normal time remaining after being played in by a fine Jack Newell ball, but Sudbury stopper James Bradbook managed to prevent the defender from finding the net.

The controversial winner came in the 92nd minute of the match; Cowling found Peters, who lobbed the ball over Price. However, the ball struck the outstretched arm of Cowling in the build up and, despite the protests of the Sporting players, Michael Robertson-Tant allowed the goal to stand.

There was almost a final twist in the tale in the final minute of added time, as the visitors had a flurry of chances in quick succession.

Substitute Fin Holmes had a strike saved before Meddows hit the crossbar from yards out via the rebound. These were followed by King having an effort blocked, leaving the Rouslers wondering exactly how they had failed to score at any point during the game.
