OPPOSITION
- This season: P23 W13 D5 L5. GD +20. 44 points. They sit 4th (of 22 teams).
- This season (home league games): P12 W9 D3. GD +18. 30 points.
- Last five league games: W1 D2 L2
- Last five league home games: W4 D1
- Most recent league game: 3-2 defeat at Redditch (Saturday)
- Most recent home league game: 3-1 win versus Biggleswade (Boxing Day)
- The Poppies may sit fourth in the league, but they have games in hand over all the teams above them (1st and 2nd – three, 3rd – two) and are only two points behind them all, so would be well clear in a points-per-game table.
- Only second placed Bedford and third place Telford have scored more (48, one more than Kettering’s 47). But those two teams have played three and two more games respectively.
- Only Banbury (21) have conceded less in the league than Kettering’s 27. The Poppies’ goal difference of +20 is nine better than the next closest team (Stratford +11).
- They are winless in their last three league games (D1 L2) but these were all away (the aforementioned Redditch game, Harborough 2-1 and Stratford 3-3). This is their longest winless streak of the season and they had never lost two in a row before this.
- They have scored and conceded in their last 11 league games (13 matches in all competitions). It’s five home league matches in a row where they’ve scored and conceded (six in all competitions).
- Their last clean sheet in the league was on 22nd October – a 2-0 home win vs Stourbridge.
- They have only failed to score in two matches all season – a 1-0 league loss at Royston (7th September – they’ve scored in all of their 17 league matches since) and a 2-0 loss at home to Gainsborough in the FA Trophy (5th October – their first game in the competition this season and the only time, in any competition, they have failed to score at home this season).
- Whilst that have lost their last three, these have all been away and their home form paints a different picture. This is their first home game of 2025, with their last being on Boxing Day. They are unbeaten in the league this season (W9 D3), which is unsurprisingly the best home record of all the teams.
- They have the best home goal difference (+18; no team has scored more, and only Banbury have conceded less). Kettering have scored in all 12 of their league home game this season (and have scored two or more in their last nine league home games).
- Their three home league draws have come against Bedford (2-2, 16th Nov), Harborough (1-1, 26th Aug) and Stratford (1-1, 17th Aug). The Harborough game was the last home league fixture in which they scored less than two.
- In terms of every side’s last five league games, Kettering have the 15th best record (1 win in five). Their last five league games have seen 20 goals (10 for and against) – only Telford’s last five have seen more (23).
- Extending it to every side’s last 10 league games and it’s similar – no team scored more (20) and only Lowestoft games (41) have seen more goals than Kettering’s 37 (20 for and 17 against).
- And with their last five home league games, across this period… no team has gotten more points (13), no team have scored more (12) and no team has a better goal difference (+6).
- Striker Jonny Edwards has scored in their last three home league games.
- A memorable FA Cup run saw Kettering knocked out by League Two Doncaster Rovers at home in the second round (after extra time) – prior to that, they beat League One Northampton Town in the First Round (1-2, A, also after extra time).
