Ahead of a massive game on Saturday, as 2nd plays 1st with Peterborough Sports visiting the Victoria Ground, manager Bren Kelly looks towards the task at hand and reflects on a frustrating week with the floodlight issue.
“This weekend, we are massive underdogs to the league leaders and with only one defeat to their name and the best defensive record in the division, this will prove a huge test.
“Last week, I’m sure it’s safe to say we were all left frustrated after the floodlight failure.
“To go in at half time winning 3-1 against 10 men and play as well as we did, it felt like a loss in the dressing room and we’ve had to pick the lads up this week with two good training sessions under our belt and a little bonding session to get us in the right frame of mind to attack this game with the confidence, belief and quality we showed last Saturday.
“As we progress through the season, the squad are always learning with different tests each week.
“We are not only learning about our opponents – we are also learning about ourselves and how we can improve in all aspects of the game: fitness, tactics, contribution, quality – everything that needs to be covered to prepare us as best we can.
“On Thursday night, we added midfielder Michael McGrath to the ranks and I am chuffed he chose us over a host of other teams.
“I know Macca and I know his game. He came to watch last Saturday and was pleased with how we try play football and he can’t wait to get going.
“Previously of Hereford, Stratford and Sligo Rovers amongst others, he will definitely improve us.
