SPORTING TEAMS: The Latest News

This article looks at the latest news from all the Sporting teams…

First Team

  • The first team made it five home matches unbeaten with a 2-0 league victory over Royston Town last Saturday.
  • This Saturday, they make the short trip to Stourbridge for a league encounter (3:03 KO) – the effects of Storm Claudia means this match is weather permitting. Keep an eye on our social media for all the latest regarding this.

U21s

GIRLS

  • U9s: They played against Droitwich last weekend – a game with a frenetic start and another brilliant performance from Sporting, with Ruby chosen as Player of the Match.
  • U10s: They travelled to Malvern last weekend to take on Newtown Sports with a depleted squad and no subs – but what they lacked in numbers, they more than made up for in heart, teamwork, and pure determination – the entire team were Player of the Match!
  • U11s: A tough one last weekend at Inkberrow, who are an incredibly physical side. Millie was Player of the Match, whilst Cecila and Bella also deserved plaudits, with the girls having to shuffle around as key players were unavailable and others could not play as much.
  • U14s: They faced Redditch Eagles last weekend, drawing 2-2. Emilia, assisted by Maddie, and Immy, assisted by Josie, scored the Sporting goals, whilst Yin Yee was Player of the Match.
  • U18s: Last weekend, they faced Kingfisher, running out 4-1 winners. Persia continued her fine goalscoring form this season with a brace, whilst the others goals came via Hannah T and an own goal.

The Girls set-up are looking to recruit managers and coaches for our proposed new teams next year. This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic ladies or gents to get involved in the journey.

The age groups will be Under 8, Under 13 and potentially Under 15. Contact Alan Williams on 07786983951 for more info.
