U21s SUMMARY: The Latest News

This article about our U21s side, from Matt Tennant, reflects on last weekend’s third consecutive league win and this Saturday’s POSTPONED fixture…

Bromsgrove Sporting U21’s Brendan Field led the charge as the Rouslers stunned Coalville Town Ravens in a gripping 1-4 victory.

Sporting’s Zak Parr was first to get on the scoreboard, setting the precedent for much of the game.

The visitors continued to waltz through a bewildered Coalville defence, with Brendan Field slotting home two impressive finishes to give Bromsgrove a 0-3 lead inside the first 20 minutes.

Man of the Match Field bagged a well-deserved hat trick in the second half, as he continued to entertain in the second half.

The home side pushed to fight back until they were rewarded with a goal late in the game, but they couldn’t catch Bromsgrove, who leapfrog Colaville to 12th in the table, on 15 points.

Sporting U21 joint-manager, Mark Reeve, said: “We worked on quick transitions in training, which helped us start the game really well.

“A couple of early goals sets you up and we gained confidence before going into the break three goals up.

“The second half didn’t quite match the first half. We slowly got into some momentum and eventually claimed a fourth goal.

“We were unlucky to concede a late goal, but overall it was a great squad performance on the road.”

Unfortunately, this week’s home game against Ashby Ivanhoe U21 Knights has been cancelled due to the strong winds and heavy rain caused by Storm Claudia.
