U21s SUMMARY: The Latest News

This article about our U21s side, from Matt Tennant, reflects on last weekend’s match and this Saturday’s fixture…

It wasn’t to be for Bromsgrove Sporting U21s on Saturday, as they lost 2-5 against Rushall Olympic U21s at home.

The visiting Rushall got straight to work with a relentless attack that saw them score twice inside the first ten minutes, with finishes from Cavan Edwards and Reece Jones putting Sporting on the back foot.

But a resilent Bromsgrove showed their class and worked hard to claw themselves back into the game.

Working quickly and creating opportunities, it was only a matter of time before the home side levelled the score, with two brilliant finishes from Man of The Match Alemi GM to complete a spirited first-half come back for Bromsgrove.

The stage was set for an explosive final 45, with Rushall’s Tre Johnson being the first to reclaim the lead after the break. Bromsgrove battled on but couldn’t find a way to respond, as Olympic continued to mount the pressure in attack.

Sporting’s struggles worsened when Rushall slotted their fourth of the day after Dylan Johnson’s finish, before Ellis Parkes added one more to help the visitors run away with the game.

This week, Bromsgrove hit the road to visit last season’s rivals, Bedworth United U21s.

Going well in the league’s midfield, Bedworth are currently ninth in the league, on ten points.

The Greenbacks have bagged three league wins since the start of the season, with one draw and two losses making up the rest of their stats.

In comparison, Bromsgrove’s U21s have suffered four losses, with three coming from the start of the season, but they have improved after back-to-back wins towards the end of September.

Last Saturday’s result saw Sporting fall to fifteenth in the league on six points, but a win this weekend could see them climb rapidly back up the table and back into the midfield pack.

With both teams arriving this weekend after a loss, it’s set to be a close battle, as old rivals will fight to get back to winning ways.

In other news, Bromsgrove Sporting U21s are in urgent need of a goalkeeper for this weekend’s clash with Bedworth United U21s.

Bromsgrove Sporting U21s will face Bedworth United U21s on Saturday 11th October at The Oval with a 10:30 AM kick off.
