Below is the latest round-up of the season featuring the freshest news from both our U21s and new U18s sides, from Matt Tennant…
U18s
Bromsgrove Sporting Under 18s narrowly lost 2-3 against Worcester City, after an enthralling contest.
George Andrewartha’s double came from hard work from the squad but despite an admirable attacking performance, Sporting were unable to hold Worcester at bay, with the visitors slotting one more brilliant strike to snatch a win for The Faithful.
Under 18’s manager, Dave Andrewartha, said: “It was an exciting, end-to-end game from start to finish, with both teams giving everything and creating plenty of chances.
“Unfortunately, we were edged out 3–2, with a couple of outstanding strikes proving the difference on the night. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the overall performance and a lot for the lads to be proud of.
“There are, of course, things we can learn from and areas we need to improve, but that’s all part of the journey. With experience, hard work and continued commitment, we’ll keep progressing as a team.
“Well done to the lads for the effort and commitment, with plenty to build on.”
The Round One loss knocks Bromsgrove out of the HFA Giantkillers Cup, but the team will return to their league campaign to welcome Boldmere St Michael’s to the UK Electrical Stadium next week – on Wednesday 14th October (7:45 KO)
U21s
It was comparatively quiet for Bromsgrove Sporting Under 21s last week, after their game was cancelled shortly before kick off on Saturday morning.
The news was announced after Ashby Ivanhoe U21 Knights were unable to field a full team on the day.
The Midland Football League have confirmed that the fixture will be rescheduled for a later date, which will be announced in due course.
Despite no game, the Under 21s used Saturday morning as an opportunity for a short training session before their next match up this Saturday (10th October) against Redditch United U21s at The UK Electrical Stadium (10:30 KO).
