Bury 2 (Glendon 8′, Touray 59′)
Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Harrison 90+1′)
Bromsgrove Sporting’s FA Cup run and nine game unbeaten streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon, via a 2-1 defeat at Northern Premier League side Bury.
George Glendon put the home side into an early lead before Mo Touray doubled the lead for the Shakers.
Bromsgrove’s Ollie Harrison halved the deficit in second half additional time, but this proved to be a mere consolation for the Rouslers.
Glendon’s opener came eight minutes in; he capitalised on some slightly wayward defending and subsequently lobbed Sporting keeper Tony Breeden with a smart finish.
Former Shaker Chris Hussey narrowly missed the target with a free kick soon after, before Leo Graham had a tame effort saved in the 13th minute.
Hussey had another good free kick opportunity in the 39th minute, but again put his strike wide of the mark.
Sporting had a huge chance seconds after the interval – they capitalised on a defensive mix up, but Adam Jasper shot wide with virtually the entire goal at his mercy.
Another big opportunity went Sporting’s way in the 55th minute; Jamille Matt knocked a long ball onto Jasper, who then lobbed the ball over from a one-on-one situation.
The lead was doubled 59 minutes in, when Mo Touray made the most of some more haphazard Sporting defending, slotting the ball into the bottom corner coolly from inside the area.
Sporting’s goal came in the 91st minute, with Harrison confidently heading home the game’s first corner into the net.
Bury’s Anthony Dudley had the final shot of the match, narrowly putting a strike wide from a good position in the sixth minute of added time.
