ROBERTS WRITES: A message from our vice captain

The following is a message from Sporting’s vice captain and club record appearance holder, Aaron Roberts…

“Firstly, I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say I am really looking forward to Saturday. With the lift in recent form and our two excellent wins I think, as a team, we wanted to continue that as soon as possible.

“I’ve noticed the creeping up in numbers of support, both home and away, which means a lot to all the lads and, with so many new faces in the squad, they are able to get a glimpse of how the club can be when we’re winning matches.

“The standard of training at the minute is very high and we have got the tools to win games in different manners, as has been seen lately.

“A lot of credit must go to the manager, who has given us a platform to get key results, as we have been pretty close all season but not managed to quite get over the line in some games.

“The aim for us now is to continue that until the end of the season, with some targets still in our sites to make this season a success.

“The gaffer is clear in that and if we continue to win games of football, that increases the chances of building something for next season, when he will have had a full pre-season behind him to integrate his ideas.

“As always, I would like to thank all the supporters and I hope to see as many of you as possible this coming Saturday, in what is an opportunity to extend our current run. My massive thanks go to all who are backing us.”
