- Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. They played at home last week against Kidderminster Lions, taking part in the Silent Weekend – a challenge where the girls had to rely on each other for communication, without the usual guidance from the sidelines. The first half was a thrilling display of end-to-end action, with both teams showing impressive strength and determination. The girls adapted well to the silence, working together and encouraging each other on the pitch. After the break, the girls started the second half a little slowly, struggling to keep up the initial pace. However, after a few key changes, they found their rhythm again and finished the match strong. It was clear that the girls responded well to the quiet atmosphere, but just missed that extra bit of guidance at crucial moments. Overall, it was a great learning experience, and the team will take plenty of positives into their next match, which sees them travel away to face Newtown Sports. Well done girls!
- Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. 1-1 draw against Kingfisher Belles last weekend. This week, the silent support initiative was impeccably observed by both sets of parents, but it did make for quite a flat atmosphere. Sporting started slowly and really struggled to click into gear – this led to quite a scrappy game, where neither side managed to string many passes together. Kingfisher took the lead after a through ball seemed to catch the Sporting defence a bit square and, as goalkeeper Layla came out to challenge the attacker, the opponent managed to poke it past her into the goal. Sporting did respond pretty well and managed to put some pressure on Kingfisher – 10 minutes later, a moment of magic from Immy saw her collect the ball midway in their half and show good footwork to beat a couple of players. She then managed to hold off a couple more to burst into the box and fire in the equaliser. A great goal, which was a real goal of the season contender. The second half saw a couple of half chances fall to Kingfisher well dealt with by Layla, but it was Sporting who looked more likely to pinch the winner, having a couple close shots go narrowly wide. Right at the death, a great one-on-one chance fell to Sporting – the placed shot seemed to take forever to go past the goalkeeper, which eventually hit the post. It wasn’t to be, and the game ended in a draw.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. Their game against Bromsgrove Rovers was unfortunately called off. They are home to Droitwich Spa Ravens this weekend.
