- They were at home v Nunnery Wood last weekend and were 1-0 winners. They started in a determined fashion, with a desire to go into the New Year as winners, having quite a few good chances spurned in the first half. The defence held firm against a quick Nunnery attack, with the score 0-0 at half time. The second half continued much the same as the first, with the Sporting defenders doing a grand job of repelling any invaders. Bromsgrove continued to make and miss chances, until Kayleigh Waldron popped up to score an excellent goal.
- They now have a Christmas break and entertain highflying Kingfisher in the New Year.
- The Ladies Development side wish all players, parents, supporters and sponsors a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
VETERANS
- Bromsgrove Vets managed to continue their excellent run going – five games unbeaten and fourth in the league, with two games in hand. Sporting were away to SSS Lions and it promised to be an interesting game, with the pitch being extremely soft under foot. Both teams started well, but it was Lions that opened the scoring after 15 minutes. Sporting battled hard and, in spells, played some excellent football – after 25 minutes, a fantastic through ball from Lee Woodward found Shane Benjamin, who made no mistake in slotting home to make it 1-1. Sporting continued to apply the pressure with 30 minutes gone and a penalty was awarded – up stepped Josh McKenzie, who pretty much passed the ball back to the keeper for the score to remain 1-1. Sanjay Malhi continued to terrorise the Lions left back and, on 40 minutes, he put in a great through ball which McKenzie lashed into the top corner from a tight angle from 16 yards out. A fantastic goal for Sporting to lead 2-1 at half time. Lions came out fighting and, 10 minutes into the second half, they managed to equalise via some sloppy defending. The game got a bit messy after that, with the pitch tearing up, and Lions seemed to manage the conditions better, scoring a very well taken goal to lead 3-2. Sporting dug deep, as they knew their play didn’t warrant them being behind; with some grit, Benjamin managed to finish another well worked goal to make it 3-3 with 15 minutes to go. Both teams had some good chances and Andy Fox made a superb save to keep Sporting level. Then, a nice break down the left allowed Robbie Agar to put a beautifully whipped ball into the area from 35 yards that everyone missed, resulting in it finding the bottom right hand corner for Sporting to lead 4-3 with five minutes to go. Sporting would eventually hold on to the lead for another win away from home – 4-3 the final score.

- Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls have no game.
- Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. Their last game before Christmas was away at Wolverley, who had improved since the two sides’ opening day encounter and provided a tough challenge – working hard to close down and press the ball. Sporting managed to match that commitment though and started to dominate the game early on. Immy’s corners were causing the Wolverley defence problems all game and defender Amelia managed to spin on a loose ball following one of these corners to smash a shot off the crossbar. Shortly after, Emily got on the end of another corner to finish from close range at the near post. Not long after, Immy doubled Sporting’s lead with a fine strike. The second half continued with Sporting dominating the game, with a number of chances going just wide or well saved. Sporting got a third with an amazing edge of the box strike by Immy straight into the top corner (she’s making a habit of that this season!). A good 3-0 win and a strong performance to end 2024, with Sporting top of the league. They are next in action with a quarter-final cup game away at Meadow Park on 4th January.
