LADIES

  • After a disappointing start to the season, the Ladies put in a performance of quality to beat Solihull Moors Foundation Women Reserves 4-0 on Sunday.
  • With some of our ladies returning from injuries like new signings, they looked like the side from last season. Attitude, focus and decision making was of a very good standard and was evident from the football the ladies delivered in the game.
  • Goals from Beth, Elle, Laura and Ruby gave them a comfortable win – the hope is this will now act as the springboard for the ladies to kick on.
  • Ruby was promoted from our Development team to the First Team – first hand proof that the pathway works!
  • Player of the Match performance from midfield was Charlotte Wallis – solid from the first whistle
  • Our Ladies move on to Leamington Lions Ladies away on Sunday (3:00 KO). The game is being played at Racing Club Warwick.

LADIES DEVELOPMENT

  • The Ladies Development Team is the final leg of the pyramid into the first team, with a mixture of experience and youth in the side. They are still looking for a manager – contact Alan Williams on 07786 983 951 for more info.
  • The Development side travelled to Evesham United Ladies on Sunday with an under strength squad – battered by injuries and a deserved call up to the first team for Ruby Brett. Trying to reverse a previous result against this team, Bromsgrove started well and was dictating the play – it was therefore no surprise to see them go up 1-0. Evesham were quick on the break and made several chances but could not convert until disaster struck and they scored through a penalty. The second half saw Bromsgrove put under a lot of pressure, but the defence was strong and Sporting scored again to make it 2-1. Unfortunately, concentration was lost and they scored barely 60 seconds after the kick off. Bromsgrove were struggling, as they only had 11 fit players, but persevered and Natalie Walsh got her richly deserved hat trick – 3-2 with seconds to go, until the eighth minute of injury time, when Evesham got the equaliser to make it 3-3 with the last kick of the game.
  • Bromsgrove host Inkberrow Ladies this Sunday (2:00 KO).

VETERANS

  • The Vets lost 2-1 at Coventry Copsewood Old Boys on Sunday.

GIRLS

  • Under 13s vs Worcester United. What a cracker! A tough test was expected against early table-toppers Worcester United on Saturday and it turned out to be just that. The game started brightly, with Sporting starting strongly and playing some great football in the build up – both defences were solid and held up well to early pressure. The second half saw the games best chances, with Sporting breaking the through and creating a couple of one-on-ones to no avail. At the other end, Worcester created a couple of good chances themselves, with Layla pulling off a couple of amazing saves to keep Sporting in it. It was end to end stuff in the last 20 minutes and could have gone either way, but an even contest, played with great spirit, saw the game end 0-0, which overall was the fair result. They travel to Meadow Park this weekend.
  • Under 10s vs Newtown Sports. Bromsgrove put in a strong and determined performance against a tough and physical Newtown Sports side. Although they had a slow start, the girls rallied together and made the first half very competitive. Their resilience and passion shone in the second half; the girls kept the game close, showing their strength as a team. Their next match is away at Nunnery Wood.
  • Under 18s had no game at the weekend, but play Broadway away this weekend.
