This article looks at the latest results and news from all the Sporting teams…
First Team
- The First Team play in the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, facing Bottesford Town at home (3:00 KO).
- Their two most recent matches, both away and in the league, saw them beat Biggleswade Town (0-1) before losing narrowly to AFC Telford United (2-1).

LADIES
- Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies opened their season with a 4-1 away defeat at Halesowen Town 4-1.
- Manager Alan Horton commented: “The score didn’t reflect the game and if the ladies had converted the chances they created, it could have been a different outcome. We’ll take a lot of positives away from the game and there’s lots to work on. The level we are now in is competitive and the physicality is a lot more evident. I’m more than confident the ladies will hold their own in this new season.”
- They go forward into this Sunday’s local derby, at home to Redditch United (2:00 KO).
- £2 entry fee. U16s – £1. U11s and concessions – free.
- Your support would be very much appreciated at the UK Electrical Stadium on Sunday!

LADIES DEVELOPMENT
- The Ladies Development Team is the final leg of the pyramid into the first team, with a mixture of experience and youth in the side. They are looking for a manager – contact Alan Williams on 07786 983 951 for more info.
- They travelled to a highly rated Kingfisher on Sunday and, although beat, they are confident that we will get better. The game started with an injury and a visit to A&E in the 2nd minute and things didn’t get any better thereafter.
- Kingfisher are a talented & experienced team, who were too fast and skilful for the brand new team. Our team battled for every ball and, during the second half, had five players receiving treatment on the bench for a period, leaving nine on the field of play.
- Every player continued to fight for every ball, but Kingfisher went on to win with ease.
- This weekend, they play away vs Evesham United Ladies in the Worcestershire FA Cup (THE SPIERS AND HARTWELL JUBILEE STADIUM. CHELTENHAM ROAD, EVESHAM, Worcestershire WR11 2LZ).
VETERANS
- The Vets’ next game is at the UK Electrical Stadium against Hollyfields, in the league, this Sunday (10:30 KO).

GIRLS
- It was the first game of the new season for the Under 18s, away at Worcester City, at Perdiswell, at the weekend. This is a new team and all the girls are learning to play together – even so, the result was a little frustrating, losing 4-1.
- They started off the game with some lovely passing moves and made at least five good chances in the first 10 minutes without converting. A long ball after 20 minutes on their first attack saw our U18s’ defence caught out and they surprisingly went 1-0 down. Further chances came and went, but Worcester’s second and third attacks were both a repeat of their first goal – all three goals were well taken by their centre forward. Our girls stopped the rot by re-organising and pressing forward again. HT: 3-0
- The second half was a procession of missed chances. They were solid in defence though and the goal eventually came – 3-1. Chance after chance was spurned afterwards though and another Worcester breakaway made it 4-1.
- This weekend, they host Leamington, in a 10:30 KO.
- The Under 13s did not have a game at the weekend – their first ever game is at home on Saturday v Wolverley.
- The Under 10s also did not have a game – they play local rivals Catshill on Saturday morning.
