PARTY ON THE PITCH: Write Up & Gallery

Last Sunday, Bromsgrove Sporting held what the club hopes to be the first of many Party on the Pitch events!

The well-attended day kickstarted the celebrations of the 140th anniversary of football in Bromsgrove, with plenty more planned across the year to mark the history of both Sporting and Rovers.

The music began with The Tysms, before Josie Field and Dan Sealey’s relaxed tones perfectly matched the May afternoon sunshine. Blondish and Forever Elton followed, belting out all the classics of Blondie and Elton John, before The Works brought the day to a close with a set of brilliant songs that had everybody dancing as the sun set for the evening.

The day was far from being just about the music though; the food on offer from the vendors saw burgers, pizza and Caribbean cuisine served up, as well as ice cream and sweet treats.

The Rousler Bar was busy throughout the whole day, ensuring the good atmosphere wasn’t just contained to the pitch and the bustling marquee!

There was plenty to keep our younger revellers occupied too, with bouncy castles, inflatable games, face painting and football nets all proving very popular!

We was also very pleased to see First Team manager Scott Adey-Linforth at the event, along with captain Reece King and defenders Aaron Roberts & Ash Carter!

It was also pleasing to have so many families and newcomers to Sporting there as well, as the club continues to endeavour to make itself a true pillar of the local community.

Feedback

The feedback we have received from attendees has been amazing!

Wayne Ashford: “Had a great day. Well done all involved making it happen.”

Charlie Rudge: “A lot of Bromsgrove people would have visited the UK Electrical Ground for the first time, so what is good for the community is good for the future of the club.”

Heidi Cartwright-Edwards: “A lovely family-friendly day! Very well organised with good entertainment – I hope this becomes an annual event.”

CHAIRMAN’S QUOTE

Chairman Rod Brown commented: “I am so proud of everyone within the club who have helped to put on this Party on the Pitch community event to celebrate 140 years of football  in Bromsgrove!

“The most pleasing aspect was that we had 800 plus in attendance, and that both adults and kids seem to have such great fun!

“We are therefore going to make this music and fun day an even bigger event next year!”

NEXT YEAR

We are already looking ahead to next year’s event – and will use all the feedback we have been given to make it an even more successful one! Bigger and better will be the objective – and we cannot wait!
