Bromsgrove Sporting are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Luke Softley.
Luke, who started his football career in the Aston Villa academy, has spent the last few season at Hungerford Town, where he firmly established himself as a fans favourite.
Luke has family ties with Bromsgrove football, with his dad Richard having played for Rovers!
On joining Sporting, Luke commented: “I am really pleased to be here – a big club with big ambitions.
“After speaking to the gaffer, it was a no brainier. As soon as I knew the club were interested, I knew I wanted to sign. A massive thank you to Hungerford, who helped me after coming out of Aston Villa, but now I can’t wait to get started on Saturday in front of the home fans.
“I’m a centre back who loves defending and getting on the ball. I’m a bit of an ‘old fashioned’ centre back, who will head anything and I’m willing to put my body on the line. Equally, I like to get the ball down and play too. I can play anywhere across the back three or four and can even do the odd job in holding midfield.”
Commenting on our latest addition, manager Scott Adey-Linforth said: “I’m really pleased to have Luke on board. He’s a young, ambitious defender who will help improve our squad.Â
“This year, I’ve tried to recruit local players and Luke fits just that, given he lives in Bewdley. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Luke and his family to the club.
“I’d like to say a special thanks to Hungerford and their manager Danny for helping with this transfer.”
We hope you will join us in welcoming Luke to Sporting!
